Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham,
Jagadguru Sri Sankaracharya Swami Padah
Sri Matam Samsthanam
Sole Trustee of GURUVAYUR SRI KRISHNA MANDIRAM TRUST

STHALA PURANAM:
Srinivasa Nagar (Bagh Amberpet) where Guruvayur Sri Krishna Mandiram Trust is located has a holy past and an auspicious presence.

Devaprasnam indicated that long ago, this Sacred Place was Ashram to holy men and Rishis. The place was full of Gardens and Lakes and was often visited by celestial beings.

Finding that this is a suitable place for installation of Lord Sri Krishna's Idol, Guru (Brihaspati) rested here with the idol for a brief while, but had to take off to catch up with Vayu who moved faster towards His fated destination, that is GURUVAYUR. Our temple is located at the very site once sanctified by His divine presence, and hence, named Guruvayur Sri Krishna Mandiram.
